There were over 1,800 bills and resolutions filed during the past legislative session. Some bills filed were only one sentence in length, while others were over 300 pages. 163 bills and resolutions were truly agreed and finally passed and delivered to the Governor for his signature. The Governor has until mid-July to sign or veto the proposed legislation.
Listed below is my stance on several issues from my campaign for State Representative, followed by the bills I supported related to my campaign promises during the past year. For a detailed summary of each bill visit www.house.mo.gov
Taxes & Governmental Efficiency
As the only CPA in the Missouri State Legislature, I am committed to maintaining an efficient, effective State Government. My experience as an Auditor allows me to bring accountability to government and eliminate governmental waste. I will continue to support lower taxes, which means more money back in your pocket. My belief is that government should spend within its means and maintain a balanced budget.
Bills I Supported for Reduced Taxes and State Governmental Transparency - HB 544, HB 577
Protecting our Seniors
Our seniors, many of whom live on a fixed income, should not be forced to sell their homes due to an increase in their property taxes. Legislation should also be introduced to protect our seniors from “financial advisors” who place seniors’ retirement funds in unsuitable investments. I will fight to take care of our seniors during retirement.
Bills I Supported for our Seniors - HB 82, HB 83, HB 154, HB 265, HB 272, HB 395, SB 1, SB 156, SB 216, SB 411
Education
Our children are our future and quality education for our children is of the utmost importance in our community. Missouri should also not be the 44th ranked state in teacher pay. As your State Representative, I will continue to support funding for our public schools and universities.
Bills I Supoorted for Education - SB 291, HB 103, HB 247, HB 265, HB 373, HB 490, HB 506, HB 682, HB 922, SB 152, SB 411, HB 390
Economic Development
Responsible, planned economic growth is vital for Johnson County. Missouri’s government should continue to eliminate unnecessary red tape and barriers to new economic development. As your State Representative, I would be proactive in promoting new business, new jobs and economic development in Johnson County. I will fight for our fair share of governmental resources.
Bills I Supported for Economic Development - HB 191, HB 745, HB 883, HB 1075, SB 542
Veterans
As a veteran of the Missouri Army National Guard and the grandson of a WWII veteran, I understand the many sacrifices the men and women of our Armed Forces have made to our great State and Country. Their commitment and sacrifices should be commended and we should support programs and aid to honor our active duty military and veterans.
Bills I Supported for Veterans - HB 82, HB 111, HB 400, HB 427, Hb 91, HB 678, HJR 15

Illegal Immigration
22,000 – The number of illegal immigrants in Missouri according to the US Census Bureau. $116,000,000 - The annual amount these illegal immigrants cost Missouri taxpayers, of which $1.4 MILLION is used to incarcerate Missouri’s illegal immigrants.
Missourians should not have to pay for illegal immigrants and illegal immigrants should not be eligible for state aid. I will support legislation to keep illegal immigrants out of Missouri.

Agriculture is the backbone of Missouri’s economy. State government should not hinder our farmers and I would support legislation to eliminate burdensome regulations to our farming community.

I support the right for law-abiding citizens to own and carry arms under the Second Amendment.
